Kindergarten Lesson Plans - All Subjects (Religion, Math, Phonics, Early Science) PDF, 81 pages (32 weeks each) written by 25 year homeschool veteran Paola Ciskanik
Includes all four Kindergarten core subjects: Religion, Math, Phonics, Early Science (Grade K-2)
Twenty-five years in the making, I present to you my lesson plans. These brand new lessons plans are born from the experience I have obtained in reviewing thousands of books and consulting with hundreds of families over these past twenty five years. I have successfully graduated all seven of my children from my very real and not perfect homeschool. All seven have graduated from college too! They are now contributing their talents to the world.
We heartily believe in homeschooling as a viable and preferable way to educate.
"Grateful for the experience to tailor each child’s curriculum to meet their individual needs we want to pass on the blessings we have gained. In an effort to help parents customize their child’s curriculum I offer individual subject lesson plans. I often had to tweak lesson plans to move ahead in some subjects while slowing down in others. By having them laid out by subject you will find more options to pick and choose from, to find what works best matching curriculum to each child’s learning style and stage of development." ---Paola Ciskanik,
I believe that Kindergarten is all about joy, discovery and wonder. Therefore you will find in the 32 week day-by-day lesson plan for Religion that it provides an inspiring and engaging year with our beautiful Catholic faith. The lesson plan uses the threefold study of Catholic Catechism, lives of the saints, and Salvation History. Therefore, you will see that this course of study includes a “framework text,” which utilizes the most important Bible stories to help your child begin to know Jesus in a personal way. You will mesh this by coloring books and manipulatives, all of which reinforce and present these Bible stories in a concrete manner and teach each of the lessons in an illustrative and narrative manner. You will begin a simple, age-appropriate and accessible introduction to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. There are also suggestions to begin learning Bible verses each week to add to your child’s memory work, as well as learning by heart the first Catholic prayers. And lastly, you will spend time reading and familiarizing your children with the lives of the saints as well as hymns.
In the Math lesson plan you will find a 32 week day-by-day lesson plan your child will gain foundations skills as you delight in the step by step suggestions outlined in this year’s Math study of “playing games.” These all too often overlooked skills are delineated for you in these lesson plans, such skills as sequencing, patterning, classification, skip counting, number recognition with symbols, time, seasons, money, and more. Developed by the desire to instill a love of learning it will help the parent teach for mastery learning. In addition, there are picture book suggestions that correlate to the concepts introduced as well as a grading chart for your record keeping.
In Kindergarten Phonics you will find a 32 week day-by-day lesson plan that will find not only offer suggestions to help you teach the subject but a day by day guide using the scripted Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, along with guidance for beginning the art of poetry recitations using the classic poems of Robert Louis Stevenson, and using the Aesop Fables as inspiration for drama. Included is a grading chart for your convenience too!
Science for the Early Years (Kindergarten-2nd Grade) is a 32 week day-by-day lesson plan full of suggestions for a year's worth of ideas to help foster a life-long love of science for our children. We begin with what is most natural to young minds, and that is the natural world that surrounds their daily life. Explore the weather, seasons, colors, insects, go on nature walks, begin a bird journal, start a garden and more. All these suggestions are outlined per week with a booklist of stories, hands-on and resources to inspire a sense of awe and wonder in God’s beautiful world.
